Fiat lux...

...et lux erat.

"The people...have seen a great light. On those...a light has shone."

The celebration of light returning, bringing with it the promise of new life in a few short months, was a feature of Mid-Winter celebrations even before we began recording it in other than oral tradition.

And, in the Southern Hemisphere, people have just celebrated the longest day of the year.

May light, in whatever form, touch and transform the lives of each of us.

  5. It's a beautiful balance, isn't it? - the shortest day and the longest day all at the same time. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a successful new year.

  7. I really love this one. I've decided my older one is old enough to learn about the solstice, and the wonder when he realised it is Summer in Australia was amazing.
You've captured his wonder so well.

  8. Thank you, Rayna. One day I hope to visit Australia, in the depths of what I know to be Winter, and see - the sun.
