Whatever the mythology surrounding its origins, setting one day aside to stop, take stock, and give thanks is a good idea.
There are those who are thankful on a daily basis. It's good such people exist.
However, we are creatures of times and seasons, of rites and rhythms. Setting days aside to mark occasions runs deep within us.
And so, on a such as today, we give thanks.
I have much for which to give thanks. And, even though the anniversary of my father's death falls also on today, I still give thanks.
I had the courage to show him, who was a writer of great talent, some of my poetry and stories before he died.
And - he "got" them! For such, I give thanks.
My thanks and best wishes to all I've come to know across these interwebs. My life is richer for you all, and I am grateful.

I, too, am thankful for such friends as you! Have a good weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura. I hope your Thanksgiving and subsequent weekend were very good.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving, Kevin; though I believe giving thanks should be every day :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belted Thanksgiving to you Kevin, we don't have that celebration in Oz although I guess the Churches do have Harvest Festivals which is a similar thing. However I echo the sentiments that everyday should be Thanksgiving, just look at the wonderful things life has shown, given and allowed us to experience.
ReplyDeleteHey Kevin! Read your comment on Laura's site yesterday. Thanks so much for reading CassaStar. Hope you enjoyed it.
