Music, Maestro, please

This last Friday, the one just gone I mean, we attended an event for new subscribers to the Kansas City Symphony.

Finger food, a frozen Manhattan cocktail for me (who knew a slushie could pack such a punch?) and four members of the orchestra performing as a string quartet.

We were welcomed at the door by members of the board and thanked for our subscription. Goodie bags were also provided, thoughtfully filled with forms to sign should we wish to contribute above and beyond the cost of our subscriptions.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. The first concert we attend is in October, and six others follow it. Everyone spoke of the acoustics of the new hall. We go with open ears and open minds.

The latter because we've had many years of attending Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. The SF Symphony under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas will be a tough act to follow. We were fortunate to hear gorgeous music over the years, including new works by MTT himself.

I'm glad we're able to subscribe to the Symphony's season. We've grown very fond of live music over the years. Well, we were always fond of it but we've been able to indulge that fondness. It's good the indulgence can continue.

In addition to the forms we found in our goodie bags, there was a mug. So, the house now has two new mugs to add to the substantial number we have filling an entire cupboard.

Our cups runneth over?
